Surrey Youth Theatre Company presents Mustardseed and Rat-Catcher.
TWO ONE-ACTS ON THEMES OF SHAKESPEARE COMEDY AND TRAGEDY
MUSTARDSEED:Thrilled to be cast in a current production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Mustardseed buckles down to read the play and memorize her lines—all four of them! But she couldn't prepare for the backstage comedy that unfolds with the other three teenage girls cast as fairies, who spend their time offstage gossiping and quarrelling. We see four young women who are playing the fairies in a community theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We see them onstage and backstage, always in costume and always referring to each other by their fairy names.Fun and hilarious. A comedic take on back stage antics and social drama.
RAT-CATCHER:Four students have to rehearse the big fight scene from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet for their English class. They interpret and discuss the motivation of Tybalt, Romeo, and Mercutio. Each student has their own input and thoughts; but soon what starts as a simple reading turns into a real and serious issue for them.Date and Time
