Surrey Eagles

The Surrey Eagles are a Junior A hockey club and are proud members of the BC Hockey League. They offer both premier development opportunities for their players and fast-paced affordable entertainment for the whole family. Today's game is against Powell River who will also play against the Eagles in the first round of playoffs. 

Ron and TJ Brar purchased the BCHL Surrey Eagles in May 2022 after a unanimous decision by the BCHL Board of Governors. The local family grew up in the South Surrey area where their love for hockey started at a young age. TJ Brar noted “We want to encompass our priorities around hockey, academics, community and most importantly, building new leaders. We are grateful to Chuck Westgard, former owner, and the BCHL family for allowing us to be a part of the best junior hockey program in Canada.” Ron Brar noted that “hockey is just one aspect of the Surrey Eagles and that community is the key focus. Here at the Surrey Eagles we have implemented a four pillar system: academics, athletics, community, and courage. You can’t have one without the other and we strive to make sure that all these pillars are encouraged and focused on.”. In less than a year, the team has transformed into a leading organization within the BCHL league.

The Brar family roots are planted in farming. The brothers started Evergreen Herbs and Roots Organic 30 years ago and continue to expand this farming operation yearly into a multi-dimensional company with an array of facilities, farms and now a fully functioning operation in Ontario. The business has grown into a leading provider of fresh herbs and vegetables to grocery stores across the country. They commonly mention how it truly takes a village to achieve something great, and the Surrey Eagles is a testament to that theory. Many of the team's business and personal sponsors have been noted as the backbone of the organization.
