  • The South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce supports, promotes, and advocates for businesses across the peninsula. The role of the Chamber has never been more critical, in recent times, because of the impact of the pandemic to businesses. With funding from Service Canada, the Chamber is seeking to hire candidates for 3 General Office Worker positions to join the dynamic Chamber team.     Roles:
    • Contacting and interacting with Chamber members and businesses in the community
    • Updating the Chamber database
    • Signing up new members
    • Helping with social media, special projects and general office administration
     
    Skills Required for successful applicants:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Customer service oriented
    • Detail oriented
    • Creative and outgoing
    • Social media and technically savvy
    • Having a second language is an asset
    • Be flexible and hard-working
    • Having access to your own laptop and vehicle will be an asset. Working remotely and going out into the community to meet and speak with businesses will be a major component of this job.
    Eligibility:
    This job is funded through the Service Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program and all applicants must fit the Government of Canada’s criteria as well as our job requirements. Eligible job applicants must be:
    • between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
    • a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
    • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
    • International students are not eligible; recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents. All applicants must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.
     
    Other Pertinent Details:
    • Individuals of diverse abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to apply
    • Hours: Each position will consist of 25-30 hours of work per week
    • Wage: $14.60/hour
    • This is an 8 -10 week contract that must be completed by the end of February. There is some flexibility in the start date. The Chamber office will be closed for 2 weeks during Christmas and New Years.
