True West by Sam Shepard, directed by Julianne Christie.
Sam Shepard was known as The Greatest American Playwright of his generation. In October Peninsula productions will present his iconic play - True West. Dramatic and surreal, the play concerns the struggle for power between two brothers - Lee, a drifter and petty thief, and Austin, a successful screenwriter - while they collaborate on a screenplay in their mother's southern California home
Actor Ethan Hawke described True West as Shepard’s “card-carrying audience pleaser.” True West is a showcase for male actors. Harrison MacDonald and Jesse Irving are rising young Vancouver actors. MacDonald has done several shows with Peninsula and continues to appear in film and TV. This is Irving’s breakout role in theatre and he is taking to it brilliantly. Directed by actor/director Julianne Christie with Jan Chadburn playing “mom” and Tomas Gamba as Saul Kimmer.
